The process that I am referring to is mortgage cycling. This process requires that you have extra money at the end of every month. The other benefit is that you will build equity more quickly. There are a couple of thing that you need to know about your mortgage. Does it penalize prepayment? Also check to see if it penalizes balloon payments. If you mortgage includes any clauses with these statements then it is not beneficial to do mortgage cycling.

The second process is bi weekly payments. This is for anyone with a mortgage. The basic principle is that you are taking your one monthly payment and dividing it into two equal payments. When you do this you are lowering the amount of interest that you pay to the bank.

The next method that is very successful is what experts call the round up method. The principle is that even if you only round your payment up a few dollars, it will save you thousands of dollars. Another great tip is that if your pay increases, increase the amount of your mortgage payment equally.

When you have the chance then refinance the mortgage into a ten or fifteen year mortgage. Also be sure to keep the mortgage rates in mind because when you refinance you can get the lower rate. While you are doing that increase your monthly payments to the most that you can afford.
